Welcoming Fr. Chris Holcomb:
Lights, Faith, Action!
We’re delighted to welcome Fr. Chris Holcomb as our new chaplain at the Catholic Student Union and the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More. Though newly ordained, Fr. Chris is no stranger to Tallahassee—or to the Catholic Student Union. Fr. Chris brings a vibrant faith, an intriguing background, and great enthusiasm to our Catholic Noles family.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, and raised in Pensacola, Florida, Fr. Chris attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school, where he first met and went to school with CSU’s former chaplain, Fr. Luke. He later studied math and theology at Spring Hill College before pursuing filmmaking at Florida State University, where he earned a Masters in Fine Arts in film production. He humorously recalls filming projects around Tallahassee, joking that nearly every corner holds a memory.

There were many great men and women who helped him along his spiritual path, including the former pastor of Little Flower parish, his home parish, Msgr. Slade Crawford and Sister Sr. Kierstin Martin. Before answering his call to the priesthood, Fr. Chris taught high school and served as a youth minister for eight years. Spiritual direction and deep discernment led him to seminary, culminating in his recent ordination.

Excited and honored by his unexpected assignment to CSU, Fr. Chris eagerly anticipates meeting and journeying with students. He offers practical wisdom to students balancing faith, studies, and life: "Relax and keep your relationship with the Lord paramount. College is a time of transition—there’s stress and new responsibilities—but there's also incredible joy. Remember, the Lord is with you in all of it, and so are we."

To parents navigating their own transitions, Fr. Chris offers reassurance: "There's a home here with the Catholic Noles—not only for your students but for you as well. Our mission is to help young people grow closer to the Lord."

Outside ministry, Fr. Chris enjoys movies (especially Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back), spending time with family, walks, and tea drinking, a passion sparked during a trip to England.

Join us in warmly welcoming Fr. Chris to our vibrant CSU community and keeping him in prayer as he begins this exciting journey!
