Faith Over Frenzy: The Catholic Noles Talloween
"On a night when most of Florida State University’s students were preparing for another chaotic Talloween, Catholic Noles offered something entirely different — a wholesome, welcoming, and genuinely fun alternative that brought our young Catholic community together. By 7 p.m., the Catholic Men’s House, also known as the “Fratican,” was transformed into a full 2000s-themed party, complete with streamers, cosmic brownies, silly bandz, glowsticks, and a lively mix of nostalgia and faith-filled friendship.
The energy was unmistakable from the moment students walked in. A massive obstacle-course bounce house filled the yard with laughter and the kind of carefree joy that’s hard to find on a typical Talloween night. Inside, the atmosphere was warm, safe, and electric — silly bands on wrists, mocktails in hand, and 2000s hits playing from the DJ booth as people drifted between games and conversations.

Students jumped into friendly competitions throughout the night: bobbing for apples, guessing the amount of candy in the large Skittles jar, and seeing who could make it across the obstacle course the fastest. The prizes — everything from Pop Rocks to Juicy Drops — added to the playful, childlike spirit of the evening. A photo corner with props gave groups a place to capture memories, while the fondue machine, accompanied by various other treats, kept everyone gathered around the snack bar late into the night.
What made the night special wasn’t just the activities or decorations, but the atmosphere of real connection. People who might never cross paths during a busy week found themselves laughing side by side. For many, it was a reminder that joy doesn’t have to be loud, wild, or destructive — it can simply be shared.
This year’s Halloween showed what Catholic Noles does best: creating a space where students can step away from the pressures of campus life and rediscover faith-filled community, true belonging, and that nostalgic kind of fun that leaves you lighter than when you arrived."
