Men’s Social Brings Laughter, Courage, and Brotherhood
This month at Catholic Noles, 27 men braved Fear Factor, an event coordinated by the Men’s Social Team. Inspired by the hit 2000s show hosted by Joe Rogan, the night challenged participants to confront their biggest fears through a series of daring—and often hilarious—trials.
From eating the world’s hottest pepper to singing while hooked up to a TENS unit simulating “period cramps,” and even calling their Catholic Noles crush, the men were pushed far beyond their usual comfort zones. Winners of each challenge took home cash prizes ranging from $10 to $20, depending on the difficulty of the task.
Between the laughter, and fierce competition, the event fostered a strong sense of faith-filled brotherhood. Guys encouraged one another to keep going, cheered for their friends, and bonded over shared moments of joy... and, of course, measured pain. What could have been just a night of outrageous dares was in fact, something far more meaningful.

At its core, Fear Factor wasn’t about the bugs or even the revolting fermented tofu three brave men chose to eat—it was an invitation to live courageously. The night reminded everyone that true courage isn’t found in avoiding fear but in trusting God through it.
As Damian Nixon, one of the winners of the Blindfolded Tasting Challenge, said, quoting Psalm 118:6:
“The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Whether facing a ghost pepper or a personal struggle, one truth echoed through the night: with God, there is nothing to fear.
