On September 13, the Catholic Noles at Florida State University came alive with energy and purpose. More than 120 students gathered with one mission: to serve families in crisis throughout Leon County.

This was our second Noles for Neighbors event, and the spirit of generosity was evident everywhere. Working side by side, students assembled and delivered 50 food baskets filled with nutritious meals and essential items. These baskets reached 124 individuals, many of them children,  providing not only food but also hope and comfort to families facing difficult circumstances.

Partnerships were at the heart of this effort. Catholic Noles worked closely with Care Portal, the Department of Children and Families, and veterans organizations to identify families most in need. Second Harvest of the Big Bend also played a vital role by helping to offset food costs, allowing every dollar to stretch further and reach more families.

The impact of this event extended far beyond a single day. Students didn’t just give their time — they grew as servant leaders, discovering the power of collaboration and compassion. In fact, Stand Together, Care Portal’s parent organization, is now exploring ways to replicate the Noles for Neighbors model so that students at other campuses can partner with Care Portal to serve their own communities.

What began as a local effort to fight hunger is now inspiring others nationwide, showing how young people can come together to meet basic needs, build community, and create lasting change.

As we look ahead, Catholic Noles is excited to grow this program, reach more families, and continue forming students into compassionate leaders who will carry this spirit of service far beyond campus.
