Catholic Noles Serve Locally—and Inspire National Change

On a Saturday morning this past April, Catholic Noles came together to serve Leon County in a new and impactful way. Over 50 students packed and delivered groceries and non-perishable items to 20 families across the Tallahassee area—meeting critical needs just blocks away from Florida State University.

This opportunity came through a growing connection with CarePortal, a national organization that uses technology to match community needs with local responses, providing food, furniture, and acts of service to families, veterans, and others in need. The initiative was made possible through a relationship with Florida’s governor, whose family attends Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More.

Students broke into small groups, each tasked with delivering one to two weeks’ worth of groceries to assigned families. They spent time talking, praying, and offering presence alongside the provisions. Many returned with moving stories: of families grateful for prayer, of neighbors in need just around the corner, and of a deeper awareness that mission isn’t only across oceans—it’s right here at home.

The impact of this project caught national attention. CarePortal’s leadership has invited Catholic Noles to help pilot a national model for large-scale student service projects, setting the stage for similar efforts at campus ministries across the country.

Our next large-scale collaboration with CarePortal is planned for September, with hopes to double our impact and invite additional campus organizations to join the effort.

Please pray for our students as they continue to step boldly into this next phase of local service—and for the nationwide ripple effect their witness may inspire.
