Spring Break Mission: Love in Los Guayuyos
An unforgettable journey with Blue Missions

This spring break, we traveled with Blue Missions to the remote village of Los Guayuyos in the Dominican Republic—a community so isolated it felt like stepping back in time. With no paved roads and villagers traveling by horse and donkey, just reaching Los Guayuyos was an adventure in itself.

Home to about 30–50 families, this village has only recently gained access to clean water. Our mission was to help complete their transformation. A reservoir had been built and latrines were dug—and our team had the privilege of assembling and delivering water filters to each home, bringing life-changing access to clean, safe drinking water.

We lived simply—taking bucket showers or bathing in the river, swatting bugs, and sharing meals and moments with the people. It was, without a doubt, the most primitive—and most powerful—mission trip I’ve ever experienced.

Each day we celebrated Mass with the people of Los Guayuyos, grounding us in prayer and purpose. We were also able to offer home blessings, deepening our connection with the community. Watching my students say goodbye was very moving. Many were in tears—they had truly fallen in love with the people of Los Guayuyos.

Please keep this beautiful village in your prayers as they continue to grow and thrive. We’re already looking forward to what next year’s mission will bring!
